This ornate 8 Day clock depicts the idyllic scenery of a charming “Schwarzwaldhof” – Black Forest Farm. A bell rings from the steeple atop the gabled roof, as couples twirl on an upper balcony that is meticulously carved to resemble a row of trees. The front of the chalet equally stands out with its white painted front, offset by a cross-timbered design.
At the base of the clock, are showcased tableaus of the Black Forest countryside. In front of a miniature chalet, two beer drinkers are seated at a table, toasting and raising their glasses up and down. Nearby, a dog stands next to a stacked pile of firewood – while, on the opposite end, two deer feed on grass next to a water pump and trough.
On the other side of the clock, a young couple dressed in traditional Black Forest garb is seated – as the music box plays, they turn their heads back and forth to share a kiss. Beside them, a water wheel gently spins around below a suspended water trough. The tranquil scene is further accented with several ducks, a wooden fence, and fir trees.
